Polishing Your Traveling Writer

_The Traveling Writer is engineered, turned, and assembled by an
engineer! The fine pen is designed for the Road with little need for
maintenance. It is a working tool imbued with a style and class that
comes from materials that tied the loose ends of the Industrial Revolution together.
Rank your Traveling Writer along with any fine crafted relic that you
own! Traveling Writers get
lost....stolen...hidden...envied...confiscated...but not broken by
writing chores. Dr. Knott might give you the exact loads and stresses a
Traveling Writer can withstand. You will not break it logging your
adventures in your Road Works!
Having said that there is one procedure you will come to relish when caring for your Traveling Writer! The fine writing instrument longs for a good polish and buff. This is another point of connection with the famous African Skoff Tin. No self-respecting railway hand would leave home without polishing his Skoff Tin. And no self-respecting Traveling Writer would take to the open road without polishing the pen. How is that best done?

_The most important piece of cleaning equipment is the "100% T-shirt
brought home from the Road!" This polish and buff rag needs to reflect
your travels or adventures just like your stories. I never met a
Traveling Writer who did not have a shed load of old cotton T-shirts
earned on some battlefield! The list is pretty long and varies
uniquely from Traveling Writer to Traveling Writer. From my own
cupboard a great deal of life is represented in the T-shirt collection:
Halls of Higher Learning...Famous Pubs...Distant Cities and
Countries...Restaurants...Concerts and Favorite Bands...Flying
Machines!!! (Notice my collection no longer contains Marathons, Half
Marathons, 10K Runs, 3K Runs, or Fun Runs and Walks!!! If that's all
you find in your collection WE NEED TO TALK!)
Right are pictured a few fine cotton T-shirts perfect for polishing/buffing a Traveling Writer. |

_Depending upon your country of residence the metal polish to use
differs. The absolute best polishes are the non-abrasive "no wet" metal polishes. I found a great polish from Paul Chernotsky, On Site Valet, Cape Town, South Africa. Rub the brass pen barrel until the T-shirt turns black! You'll
know then that the tarnish of former journeys is gone. Buff the residue
of polish with the clean shirt tail end of your chosen rag and watch
the Traveling Writer shine like a new brass farthing! The maintenance
is done. This Traveling Writer and the good "Jedi Pen Master" who makes
them guarantees the pen for life if you should polish so much the brass
barrel collapses or a hole is worn in the pen. That's a promise!!!!
Enjoy the quiet, reflective, preparatory moments you spend bonding with your treasured writing relic. Now go pilfer through the T-shirt drawer and decide where you will begin!!!
